Into its ninth year, this annual symposium strives to strengthen connections between academia and industry, and between technology innovation and product development. The interactive panel discussions present strategies to reinvent biopharma R&D business model with the aim to enhance efficiency and success rate from both regional and global perspectives. Through a format of knowledge sharing and networking, the goal is to promote innovation, collaboration, and support advancement of San Diego’s biopharmaceutical research and development.

Session IV (Plenary Discussion). Pharmaceutical Development in China <!--br> Description: The recent swine flu outbreak is a reminder that infectious diseases represent an ongoing threat to public health. This distinguished panel of researchers, executives, and regulatory experts will offer insight into the lessons that can be learned by examining the swine flu outbreak as a case study. The audience will gain a new appreciation for the challenges presented in identifying and responding to the apparent spread of a disease. The panelists will discuss cutting-edge approaches for diagnosis, DNA vaccine and antiviral agents. Learn how the CDC and FDA have worked with private industry to ensure that public health needs are addressed in an expedited manner to combat the outbreak of disease. The panelists' insights will be illuminating for anyone with an interest in emerging infectious diseases. |

The USA Field Hockey Women's National Team welcomes two of the top field hockey nations in the world to the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA, from January 24 to February 4, 2010. The Netherlands and China, winners of the gold and silver medals respectively at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, will visit for a nine-game three nation series.
