Dear APA Community Members and Leaders,
San Diego never has an electoral district that truly reflects the concerns and issues of the Asian Americans and protects our common community interests. One of the biggest reasons is that, for so long, we had been silent and had been taken for granted by the politicians in San Diego who controlled the drawing of the districts to protect their own interests, not ours.
Proposition 11 that was passed by the voters in 2008 gives the power to determine our own future during redistricting back to us, the people of San Diego. Now we have the rights and opportunity to fight for and earn a district that we can call "Home" through the redistricting processes for City and the State legislative districts. This is the sacred mission of the Asian & Pacific American Coalition and all the community supporters to achieve that goal.
However, someone is trying again to take our Rights to Determine Our Own Future away from us through Proposition 27. We cannot and will never let them rob our rights and break up our "Home" again. To be the master of our own future and our children's future, please:
1.Vote No on Prop. 27 to protect our rights! and, 2.Vote Yes on Prop. 20 to ensure our rights can be preserved!
Thank you again for being part of the history making team.
Dr. Allen Chan and Mitz Lee Co-Conveners of APAC P.S. On October 26, 2010 APAC’s City Council Redistricting Committee overwhelmingly voted to support Yes on 20 and No on 27 and 1 abstain. Please join APAC at www.apacsd.org.
